Moorhead Lions Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order by Brenda.
Secretary’s report:
Darla read the May 2009 meeting mins.  Dawn motioned to approve, Sharon seconded. 
Sec. report approved
Treasurer’s report:
Vanessa read the treasurer’s report.  
Operating account was 31.31 
Fundraising account. was 742.30- includes July Riverarts and sucker purchase.  We made 206.50 at the last Riverarts.
There are still people that owe dues.  Please see Vanessa if you owe dues.
Sherrie motioned to approve, Sandy seconded.  Treasurer’s rep. approved.
Old Business:
Nufafta’s glasses: Brent reported no progress as of yet on the glasses.  Would like to get them before school goes back in session.  He plans to approach other area clubs to help out with the $2500 bill.
Leaderdog: If we contribute $250, we get a patch for our Lions’ banner. Deadline to do this is fiscal year 2009. Decision was made that Sandy make a banner for Potato Days with some of our prior fundraising money- we see what we make at Potato Days and then contribute to Leaderdog. 
Brent motioned to approve, Sharon seconded.
International Convention 2009: Herb, our guiding Lion attended and said it was spectacular.  15,000 Lions from over 100 countries and geographic areas attended.  Colon Powell was one of the speaker.  There were many workshops. The Beach Boys performed. Will be in Australia 2010.
July Riverarts:  
What went well:
Water to side
Number of people that was there, good practice for Potato days. 
We discussed possibly reevaluating our prices for Potato Days but will keep the current format we having going for Aug. Riverarts.  Major changes would occur next year.  August Riverarts is Aug 11. 
MDA:  Sabrina reported back about MDA.  Everything went well.
Scandinavian Fest.- Hjemkomst Center- Steve helped the Moorhead Midday Central Lions with parking.
Mid-Winter Convention: Jan 28, 29,30 2011.  Will be held in Moorhead.  Mhd Midday Central has asked us to help, will know more info as it gets closer.
Officers: We have new officers.  Brenda is our new president for the 2009-2010 year, taking over from Brent. Sue is our new Vice President.  Vanessa is our new treasurer, taking over from Brenda.  Brent is our new membership director.  Sharon and Sherrie are sharing the duties of Tail twister. 
The club awarded Brent a past President pin and thanked him for his past two years of service and getting us started.
New Business:
Potato Days is Aug 28-29, Fri-Sat. 
10 x 10- $75
10x20  $125
10x30  $175
Half of booth will be set up for facepainting, ½ for something else, possibly coloring books.  Brent is donating a Garmin Navigation system to our club for a possible giveaway.   Water bottles and jigs are also possibilities.  
Fri- 10am-10pm    There will be a children’s parade on Friday
Set up would be around 8am.  
Sat.  8-5  Would need to be shut down by 5pm because of parade.  
Sandy suggested we get the west side for our booth.  Also reevaluating of prices.
It was decided that we should do a float for the parade.  And that we should order more coloring books.  Brent will look into the gaming license for the giveaway of the GPS.

Eyeglass collection box:  Discussed placing these boxes around town- would need some signs.  Sandy agreed to make those

Glyndon Days, Loco Days etc…it was decided that we would wait and see how Potato Days went this year before branching out into different summer festivals. 
Brent would like to have a Membership night in October, where we would each bring a guest as a potential new member.
